Hey everyone! I hope this finds you all doing well. I have been lucky enough to teach art to different preschools over the last three years. I know younger kids can be messy so I love this project because they can dive in but it saves parents the clean up. It is a great project for young kids to learn how to make/mix colors. These are the materials you will need for this project.
-Ziploc back
-Paper (make sure the paper can fit into your baggie)
-Red, Blue and Yellow Paint (The others are optional)
This project will teach your kids how these three colors can make different colors. You can ask them if they know what will happen if you mix them. If they don’t know, let them find out!
We want to start by putting dots of paint onto our white paper.
Add red dots to your white paper as well.
Lastly, add yellow dots to your paper.
You want enough dots that you can spread the paint across the entire paper. If you put too much paint it might get mixed too much and the paint colors might look muddy. You want just enough that you can mix them and see each color.
Slide the paper into your Ziploc baggie.
Use your hands to start blending the paints together. You’ll start to notice when you mix them other colors appear.
When you are working on this, tell your kids to cover the entire page.
This part is really nice for parents. The kids are able to paint while keeping the mess inside the bag.
This is the messy part of the project. You have to take your paper out of the bag. I would sit the paper on something while it dries.
After it dries you will be left with a really cool tie dye painting. If you want to try more you can add different colors and see what happens when you blend them together. You can even try adding white and black paint. Let me know what you thought and stay tuned for more!
