Angel + David
Hey Everyone,
This wedding offered a number of surprises.
I received a call from the brother of a bride who wanted to pay for the photographer as a wedding gift. Once he set it all up, he passed me along to the bride. She had given me minor details like the location, time and length of the event. When I arrived to the church I was pleasantly surprised to find such beautiful fall Irish decor. The groom and his groomsmen were dressed in traditional kilts, his complete with a sporran. The elaborate embroidery of the bride’s gown was simply stunning. The attention to all of the finer details really drew together the atmosphere of the ceremony.
The wedding party and their guests were truly fun to photograph. Everyone was warm and welcoming and made taking their pictures a real joy.
The next surprise was the church where the ceremony took place. Being raised Catholic, I was excited to photograph a Catholic wedding. It was a beautiful service especially the lighting of the unity candle. Where two flames are joined together to light the single candle, two people come together to start their one life.
The bride requested that we photograph the bridal party from the overlook in Summersville, WV. It looked out over Summersville Lake which was complete with the colors of autumn, just like the ceremony. Throughout the ceremony a storm had rolled through. Luckily, the rain let up as we went for the pictures. Although there was worry for the weather, the storm brought in a beautiful foggy haze which offered an unexpected and enchanting background.
We finished and then headed back to the wedding venue (which was conveniently located next to the church). As the party carried on into the evening and the guests danced the night away, I realized what a beautiful day it was.
Until next time,
Amanda
