Elementary Art: Exploring Shapes
This project is really simple but it is a lot of fun. The more colors you add, the more you’ll see your project turning into something really bright and playful. Shapes are a beautiful thing in art. Let your kids explore circles. After they finish, they can even try this project using different shapes! Try it out and let me know what you think.
Materials
These are the materials you will need for this project.
-Paper
-Colored Pencils
-Black Marker
Household Items
Talk about shapes with your kids. Ask them what shapes they know. Let them go around the house and tell you what shapes they see. When they see a circle pick it up and bring it to the table. After you gather some circular shapes, you are ready to get started.
Outline Around Item
Take these circular shapes and outline around them on your paper.
Correct!
Make more than one of each circular item.
Use Different Items
It is good to use different size circles. It is also important to overlap these circles.
Keep Going!
Cover the page with circles.
Finished With Step One
Now you have all of your circles finished! This completes the first half of your project.
Colored Pencils
Now you can start by adding in the color. There is only one rule while coloring your project. The rule is you can not have the same color next to each other. Each color will add something new to your image.
Light Blue
Start by picking one color and adding it multiple places.
Light Green
Keep going!
Orange
You are starting to get there.
Yellow
It is important to use light colors.
Light Red
It is fun to see what each color adds to your image.
Blue
It is important to use darker colors too.
Darker Red
We are so close to finishing!
Done!
All of the colors have now been added.
Finished.
Now count how many circles you have! Just kidding. I hope you enjoyed this project. Stay tuned for more.
